The WatchGuard DV-1 Digital In-Car Video System is the revolutionary digital police in-car video system that records onto rewritable DVD-Video discs that play on regular DVD players. The system records up to eight full hours of high quality digital video on a single, inexpensive DVD disc that can be reused many times.
Direct to DVD-Video - No Transfer Steps!
Most other digital video systems require law enforcement  agencies to purchase expensive servers and computer systems to transfer, store and convert video evidence. These systems require multiple transfer steps - from the vehicle to a server, from the server to a media that can be taken into the courtroom. The 2nd transfer step in server-based systems is always a manual process and often requires changing the video format in order to share the evidence. Server-based systems cannot provide the ORIGINAL EVIDENCE that was recorded in the vehicle, only copies; which many courts will not accept, and even more defense attorneys will attempt to challenge.
Since the final output of most server-based systems is a DVD disc, why not just record directly to a playable DVD the first time and skip all of the cost, complexity and risk of the transfer and conversion steps?

DVD Menus and Chapter Selection -
Like a Hollywood Movie!
The WatchGuard DV-1 authors DVD-Video discs just like a Hollywood movie. Traffic stops are automatically divided into selectable chapters displayed on a start-up navigation menu with a still frame image and time/date stamp for each incident. This allows you to easily view and select which chapter to play. Perfect for presenting your video evidence in court!
Integrated Hard Drive Provides Redundancy
In addition to the DVD burner, the DV-1 includes an integrated, automotive grade hard drive. This dual drive architecture provides redundancy and revolutionary features the industry has never seen.
- Pre-Event Recording
- Up to 10 minutes of both Pre & Post Event video is automatically added to the beginning and/or end of each chapter.
- Automatic DVD Back-up
- Up to the last 6 DVDs created are automatically backed up on the hard drive. Should a DVD be lost, damaged, or intentionally destroyed, a supervisor can replicate an identical copy of the entire missing DVD.
- Automatic Disc Overflow Handling - Never runs out of disc space!
- While recording, if a DVD fills to capacity, the system automatically stores overflow video on the integrated hard drive until a new DVD is inserted.
- Background Recording
- The DV-1 is constantly buffering video to the integrated hard drive in a large circular loop up to 48 hours long. Hard drive video can be reviewed in the vehicle, and can also be transferred to a laptop computer using the Fleet Manager Utility software.
- Simultaneous Record and Playback
- The DV-1 can playback previously recorded video while simultaneously recording new video.

 The WatchGuard DV-1 establishes a whole new standard for quality and design elegance. It is visibly superior to any existing police in-car video system. The powder coated aluminum enclosure features a backlit Elastomer rubber panel with tactile key switches that provide sensory feedback. The 5-inch active matrix LCD can be viewed at exceptionally wide angles. The DVD Drive is even mounted on a spring loaded, silicone oil damped suspension system that isolates the drive from over 99.25% of the shock and vibration experienced by the vehicle.

The standard Overhead Version fits the majority of law enforcement vehicles. Overhead mounting frees interior space, provides access to the DVD drive while seated, and leaves an unencumbered view to the screen and controls.
For vehicles that cannot accommodate overhead mounting, a 2-piece Modular Version is available to fit any vehicle. This version provides unlimited installation flexibility.
