Watch Commander – In-Car Video Streaming

In-Car Video Streaming is here. Watch Commander™ is the secure Live Video Streaming (LVS) solution that works with any WatchGuard 4RE™ in-car video system to give agencies complete situational awareness in real-time. It allows command staff (or any authorized officer) to see and hear what is happening as a situation unfolds.

Get it All – Video, Audio, & Data

4RE and Watch Commander work together to provide your team with all of the information you need – video, audio, and data. You get the whole picture to facilitate your understanding of the situation, not just video and GPS.

Improves Decision Making

Command staff will have access to real-time information along with audio and video from all operating cameras and microphones. Now you can immediately assess if an officer needs help and evaluate the nature of any threat your team is facing.

Web Access

Watch Commander enables authorized users to access live feeds on any device on your network (PC browsers, mobile tablets and smart phones). The user interface automatically scales to fit the device.

Uses 4RE’s Built-in LVS Hardware

Leveraging the power of the DVR, the Live Video Stream is created by 4RE, not the in-car computer. 4RE’s industry leading H.264 compression engine creates an optimized stream with different frame rates and resolution to provide the best possible video at the lowest possible bitrates – while still recording up to 4 evidentiary streams at maximum quality.

Competing software-based solutions require a client running on the in-car computer to convert video into a format that can be used for live video streaming, which places a very significant processing burden on the in-car computer.

Multicast Media Server Included

Enables multiple users to simultaneously monitor live feeds from multiple vehicles and cameras without increasing the bandwidth required from the in-car unit.

Real-Time Data, Location & Status

See continuously updated speed and location alongside the status of lights, siren, and brakes.

Officer Notification

Whenever a live link is activated by Watch Commander, the in-car system generates an alert and displays an indication that the live feed is being monitored.

Watch Commander utilizes your existing 3G/4G/LTE cell network to stream the live feeds over a secured VPN connection (but only when actively monitored by an authorized user). It can work with your existing NetMotion software and your existing air card or dedicated in-vehicle router and modem hardware.

Watch Commander Software works with Evidence Library 3.1 and higher to eliminate the need to create or manage vehicles, addresses, names, and security separately from Evidence Library. Watch Commander automatically learns and updates vehicle names, DVR addresses, and officers as they are managed in Evidence Library’s fleet management – so it always knows each of the 4REs in your fleet, how to connect to those DVRs and what information to display for the vehicle. It even leverages Evidence Library’s existing active directory or LDS authentication with the same security logins, and by using a new permission setting it automatically establishes each user’s rights to access Watch Commander.
